I've gotten into the terribly bad habit of only reading when I travel. If it weren't for multiple trips back to North Dakota by car in a short period of time, I wouldn't have read a new book in the last three months. I need to work on that.
The other thing I need to work on is a realistic estimate of how fast I read, so that I can stock my car trips accordingly. Reading material for our last road trip was so poorly planned that I borrowed two books from Pipes on the way there, went to the Barnes & Noble in Bismarck, and still ran out of reading material before I got home.
This is what I've read lately:
Moose: A Memoir of Fat Camp by Stephanie Klein. One of my favorite bloggers and the author of another favorite, Straight Up & Dirty. Both of these books hit me where I live at turning points in my life, right when I needed them.
When You Are Engulfed In Flames by David Sedaris. I devour everything that David Sedaris publishes, pre-ordering and obsessively checking the Amazon status when I can't remember the release date. If you are new to David Sedaris, don't start with this one, but start somewhere. You'll never regret a David Sedaris obsession. The Tokyo chapter in this book is absolutely amazing.
Franny & Zoey by J.D. Salinger. Don't know how I missed this one back in the day, but glad I caught up. One of the books I borrowed from Pipes.
Some Jesusy Book About Almost But Not Quite Dying Which I Can't Remember The Title But Don't Care Enough To Research. The other book I borrowed from Pipes.
Loose Girl: A Memoir of Promiscuity by Kerry Cohen. I could not put this book down once I started it, and I would love to talk to anybody else who has read it. This book had me frantically scribbling down quotes and reflecting on certain passages over and over again.
Love the One You're With by Emily Giffin. Interestingly enough, I bought this book at the same time as Loose Girl and the cashier at Barnes & Noble read the two titles together and busted out laughing, which made me blush. A light read, but I still loved it.
I'm just getting started on The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein, which is pretty fascinating and was recommended to me by the lovely MB.
What are you reading?

anyway, i'm not sure how to get rid of the word verification. although i've noticed that if there is no word verification there's the thing were you have to type your name, email, homepage. i find that equally annoying:) i just want to leave a effin' comment!

It was Return from Tomorrow by George G. Ritchie.
I figured that out by googling "doctor death Jesus book". Which I think is a far better title.

Thanks for the comment...
I just finished a great light read - "The Undomestic Goddess" by Sophie Kinsella and a really funny one, "Are you there Vodka? It's me Chelsea", by E!'s Chelsea Handler. Both were excellent!

I do the same thing you do, go through books like they're bottles of water and I'm trekking through the desert midday.
It's a challenge to find things to read all the time, so coming across blogs that talk about books makes me happy!!

Since neither were happy books, I'll probably pick up something light and fun next. Loose Girl sound entertaining. I'll have to look for that one.

I just finished Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson, and I enjoyed it immensely. Have you read The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao? That has been my fave book so far this year.
