It’s amazing how the stupidest things can consume my life. (See: Any post referencing “The Cowboy”).
This week’s big stupid thing is this door.
This door is now installed between the kitchen and the former breakfast nook. That doorway used to be pretty and arched and old and quaint. Now it’s hammered to pieces. The door is going to protect the kitchen from flying dust and debris when Duke starts gutting the breakfast nook any minute now. The left side will be boarded up – nothing will be left open.
I know with each step of the project, I say this, but it really feels real now. Everything else – the smashed walls, the doors that led to nowhere, the giant hole in the floor, the paint fumes, the noise, and the never ending plaster dust – everything else was just rehearsal or something. Everything we do now is mammoth and rearranges our whole lives for weeks.
Wrecks is adjusting to all of this change amazingly well. I’m proud of him. And also jealous.

My database tells me that it has cost shockingly little, considering how much work has been done so far.
The costs will pile up when we get to the kitchen.

That said, I barely like taking care of a 1BR apt.
